Charon

Swapping Limit and stop orders

Limit, take-profit and stop-loss

Set the price, sign once, keep your tokens. When the price is reached, Charon swaps through the best route at that moment.

Order types

  • Limit: buy or sell once a route pays at least your price, such as buying HYPE under the market or selling it above.
  • Take profit: a limit sell above the current price, to lock in a gain.
  • Stop loss: sell if the price falls to your stop. You also choose how far under the stop it may still sell (1%, 3% or 5%); it never sells lower than that.

Every order has an expiry, from 1 hour to 90 days.

How an order works

  1. You approve Permit2 for exactly what your open orders of that token sell, then sign the order. Signing is free. Your tokens stay in your wallet.
  2. About every 10 seconds, Charon quotes every open order across every source it swaps through.
  3. When the best route pays your price after the fee, Charon's keeper sends the swap through the orders contract. A stop needs its price seen on two checks in a row, so one odd quote cannot set it off.
  4. In that one transaction the contract takes the amount you signed, swaps it through a known router, and sends you everything the swap paid minus 0.1%. If that is less than the minimum you signed, the whole transaction is cancelled and nothing moves.

Fee

0.1% of what the order receives, taken only when it fills. Placing and cancelling are free. Market swaps stay at 0. The fee pays the keeper's gas and goes to Charon's fee wallet.

Cancelling

  • Cancel signs a free message. Only Charon's keeper can fill an order, so a cancelled order never fills.
  • On-chain also voids the signature on Permit2 itself, for a little gas.
  • Moving the tokens out of your wallet, or lowering the Permit2 approval, pauses an order until they are back.

Beta limits

  • From $20 to $5,000 per order, until the orders contract is audited.
  • Orders sell ERC-20 tokens: to sell HYPE, wrap it to WHYPE first (1:1, one step in the app). Orders can buy HYPE directly.
  • Fills wait while HyperEVM gas is very high.

An order fills at what routes pay when it is checked, not at an exact tick. In a fast drop a stop can skip past its lowest price and not fill: you do not sell far below it, but the position stays open.

The orders contract

  • Only Charon's keeper can call it, and only to fill orders you signed.
  • It swaps only through the routers listed in Security, approved for exactly the order's amount.
  • It keeps nothing between transactions. Input a route does not use goes back to you in the same transaction.
  • The contract caps the fee at 0.30%; orders sign 0.1%.
