How routes are compared
Every source is asked at once. The route that leaves you with the most, after gas, lights up.
Sources
| Source | Kind | How Charon asks |
|---|---|---|
| KyberSwap | Aggregator | Its API, from Charon’s server |
| HyperFlow | Aggregator | Its API, from Charon’s server |
| Nordstern | Aggregator | Its API, from Charon’s server |
| 0x | Aggregator | Its API, once enabled |
| Project X | Pools (v3, four fee tiers) | Its on-chain quoter |
| Nest | Pools (Algebra, dynamic fee) | Its on-chain quoter |
| Uniswap v3 | Pools (official deployment) | Its on-chain quoter |
| HyperCore order book | Reference only | Hyperliquid’s public API (see HyperCore reference) |
The aggregators reach further pools through their own routing: HyperSwap, Hybra, Ramses, Kittenswap, LiquidCore and more.
The BEST route
Each route’s output is valued in dollars and its gas cost is taken off. The highest result is BEST. A stablecoin counts as $1 and HYPE at the HyperCore mid price; other tokens use the prices the aggregators report.
Thin pools
A route that would move the price more than 3% for your amount is marked as a thin pool. It stays visible so you can see it, but it is never recommended and cannot be selected. Try a smaller amount, or split the order.
Refreshing
Quotes refresh every 10 seconds without blanking the list. Rows only change places when one is better by more than 0.05%, so the list does not jump around. The swap button opens as soon as two sources have answered, or after three seconds; slower sources join the list when they answer.
A source that does not answer
Each source has a few seconds to reply. A slow or busy one is listed as not answering instead of holding up the others, and is asked again next refresh.
