Swapping
One review screen, then your wallet. Nothing is sent that Charon has not simulated first.
Approve & Swap
- Selling HYPE: one transaction. HYPE goes out as the transaction value, so there is nothing to approve.
- Selling a token: one button, two wallet prompts. First an approval for exactly the amount you sell, then the swap. Charon never asks for an unlimited approval.
What happens before your wallet opens
- The swap is built fresh on Charon’s server. Direct pool swaps are quoted again on-chain there, never taken from your browser.
- The router and the contract to approve are checked against Charon’s list of known contracts, on the server and again in your browser.
- The swap is simulated on HyperEVM. If it would fail, or pay less than the minimum you reviewed, it stops and nothing is sent.
Slippage
Slippage is how much less than the quote you accept if the price moves before your swap lands. Auto uses 0.1% between stablecoins and 0.5% for everything else. The minimum you can receive is shown on the review screen. Raise slippage only for tokens that charge a transfer tax.
Why a swap can fail
- The price moved past your slippage. Nothing is swapped. If it already reached the chain, only the network fee is spent.
- You cancelled in your wallet. Nothing happens.
- Not enough HYPE for gas. Using Max on HYPE keeps 0.01 HYPE back for this reason.
Swaps that take a minute
Almost every swap fits in HyperEVM’s one-second small blocks. A very complex route can need more gas than a small block holds, and then waits for a big block, about a minute. Charon tells you when that is the case. See HyperEVM.
